Laura is home now! She has been in California on vacation since mid June and its really nice to have her home. She went to the doctor on Monday to have her annual check up, she was given 4 shots, and then we took her over to the ER to have her wrist checked. While visiting with family, she was playing around and fell on it. She kept it in a brace and said that it felt better, but I wanted to have it checked out just in case. Peace of mind. So she had 3 xrays done and she has a buckle break on her left wrist. The ER doctor put her in a cast and set in motion more appointments with an orthopedic doctor. Laura was pretty upset to find out that she had a broken wrist...again. She broke the same wrist almost 3 years ago. Just that morning she had joined the dance team and was told by the ER doctor that she wouldn't be able to compete. We talked to her coach and she said she would modify dance routines to allow Laura to stay on the team. Talk about a happy girl! She went to practice all week long and is learning some fun dance moves. Her school doesn't have a cheer squad, this is the closest thing to it. She will be dancing at pep rallies, football and basketball games with the high school dance team.
Yesterday I took her to the orthopedic doctor and he told her that her break wasn't severe and that she could just wear a wrist brace, no hard cast was needed. Yay! She goes back to the doctor for an all clear on Sept. 12th (Happy Birthday Grandpa!) We really live in a small world. Laura's ortho doctor is the uncle of one of the firefighters I worked with at Hemet Fire Department. I need to shoot him an email and tell him that we met his uncle. Talking about his nephew, my former co-worker, really made me miss working for the Fire Department. I'm thinking that I would love to go back to Admin once Aubrey is old enough and we are done having babies.
Just took some cute pictures of our girls! I will have those uploaded and hopefully on the site tonight. Aubrey ate rice cereal for the first time last night. It was unplanned and we didn't have a baby spoon for her so she used a plastic spoon. She did really well!! For weeks she has watched Philip and I eat our meals and she imitates us by chewing her mouth open and closed. We thought we would give it a try and she was a natural and ready for more. So sweet and so sad at the same time....our little one is growing up so fast.
More to come later! Oh and PS... Thanks to all of our friends and family for the wonderful comments on our blog. It really makes us happy to see them. We feel closer to you in sharing Aubrey and Laura's growing up, even though we are so far away. You make us feel not so alone with your wonderful thoughts. We love you :)
