Short hair time

I cut my hair! I have had long hair for most of my life and I chopped it off this last weekend. I was tired of doing the mommy do' and putting it in a ponytail all the time. I figure that by the time I am ready to style my hair every day, it will be grown out. So here are a few pictures....

Laura starts 7th grade on September 2nd, we went to orientation tonight and then went and saw House Bunny....very funny! Not much else is going on. Philip has a shoulder injury and the weather is starting to cool off now. Til next time....

Aubrey and Laura pictures

Today Aubrey is 18 weeks old. Time is flying by fast as our little girl grows up. I did a little photo session today of her. Daddy brought me home a card and flowers today and I gave Aubrey her own little carnation to enjoy. Laura jumped in the photos at the end instead of standing behind me and making faces to get Aubrey to smile :) Here you go Aunt Nin, just what you ordered! PS) I started uploading these hours ago, I had to stop to make dinner and bake cookies. :)

New pictures

These pictures were taken of Aubrey last week at 17 weeks old. She is wearing her princess shirt that she has pretty much outgrown. I think that was the last time its going to be worn by her. Next pictures were taken last week as well with her Care Bear. She has the matching shirt on with it. After the photos were taken, we turned the bear on to talk to her and she did NOT like it at all. Dirty looks all around and finally she cried for him to go away.

We took Laura to the hospital on Monday to have her wrist xrayed and found out that it is broken. After our long morning of doctors and the hospital, Laura and Aubrey fell asleep on the couch....

Random

Forgot to mention that I cut my hair yesterday. Since having Aubrey it has been falling out in clumps and its been bothering me. It had gotten so long that anytime I took a shower, my hair immediately went up in a ponytail or a bun. I hated having it down, it was always in the way. I have been thinking about it for a few weeks and finally took the plunge yesterday. It looks really cute. Laura and Philip keep complimenting me on it and it makes me feel good to actually have a style rather than thrown up in a ponytail to stay out of my way. It is now above my shoulders and layered. I'll try and take a picture soon and show it off.
Off to make chicken fajitas for dinner and bake Philip some cookies....

Happy Birthday to RJP....RIP....woulda been 38 years old

The family is complete

Laura is home now! She has been in California on vacation since mid June and its really nice to have her home. She went to the doctor on Monday to have her annual check up, she was given 4 shots, and then we took her over to the ER to have her wrist checked. While visiting with family, she was playing around and fell on it. She kept it in a brace and said that it felt better, but I wanted to have it checked out just in case. Peace of mind. So she had 3 xrays done and she has a buckle break on her left wrist. The ER doctor put her in a cast and set in motion more appointments with an orthopedic doctor. Laura was pretty upset to find out that she had a broken wrist...again. She broke the same wrist almost 3 years ago. Just that morning she had joined the dance team and was told by the ER doctor that she wouldn't be able to compete. We talked to her coach and she said she would modify dance routines to allow Laura to stay on the team. Talk about a happy girl! She went to practice all week long and is learning some fun dance moves. Her school doesn't have a cheer squad, this is the closest thing to it. She will be dancing at pep rallies, football and basketball games with the high school dance team.

Yesterday I took her to the orthopedic doctor and he told her that her break wasn't severe and that she could just wear a wrist brace, no hard cast was needed. Yay! She goes back to the doctor for an all clear on Sept. 12th (Happy Birthday Grandpa!) We really live in a small world. Laura's ortho doctor is the uncle of one of the firefighters I worked with at Hemet Fire Department. I need to shoot him an email and tell him that we met his uncle. Talking about his nephew, my former co-worker, really made me miss working for the Fire Department. I'm thinking that I would love to go back to Admin once Aubrey is old enough and we are done having babies.

Just took some cute pictures of our girls! I will have those uploaded and hopefully on the site tonight. Aubrey ate rice cereal for the first time last night. It was unplanned and we didn't have a baby spoon for her so she used a plastic spoon. She did really well!! For weeks she has watched Philip and I eat our meals and she imitates us by chewing her mouth open and closed. We thought we would give it a try and she was a natural and ready for more. So sweet and so sad at the same time....our little one is growing up so fast.

More to come later! Oh and PS... Thanks to all of our friends and family for the wonderful comments on our blog. It really makes us happy to see them. We feel closer to you in sharing Aubrey and Laura's growing up, even though we are so far away. You make us feel not so alone with your wonderful thoughts. We love you :)

Aubrey squealing!

This is some funny stuff. Aubrey is growing every day. Today she weighed herself in Dad's arms and she weighs 12 pounds 14 ounces. Our baby girl is growing up fast! She has been very funny with playing and laughing all the time. Dad took video of her last night squealing. She was trying so hard to get the squeal to stick, it was so funny!
Check out the video and let us know that you were here. We are thinking about restricting the blog to certain people, so it helps to know that people are actually coming here to stay updated. Take care....
